You are allowed a day off from the gym. You are allowed to not run the minute you get home. You are allowed a rest day. Despite what your heart is telling you, namely, that you will spontaneously blow up like a balloon if you don't run, it won't happen (immediately).
Be proud that your body can do what you tell it to. Listen to it when it says "I'm tired. Please give me a break. I ran an 8k yesterday and then went to the climbing gym for 2.5 hours. I would like to rest. Thank you, the management."
PS - But don't listen to your stomach that really wants cupcakes. Eat an apple, please.
