Disconnected

This morning I went to Disconnected for a cut and color. I'd read on Yelp that it was really good and I was dying for a cut so off I went.

I had arranged my appointment with one of the owners but apparently she wasn't available. Into Sarah's trusted hands I gave my hair. To get the full effect of my transformation you have to understand my hair history. I call it the Reece pattern. For the last five years or so, I have done my hair in whatever fashion Reece Witherspoon is wearing.

Sweet Home Alabama flipped icy blonde bob? Check.
Legally Blonde curls? Check.
Walk the Line chocolate brown straight with a little poof? Check.
My husband is a cheating fool so I'll show up at the Oscars with fabulous long straight blonde hair? Check.

My hair has been the last one for about a year and a half. I was trying to get some serious length into my hair before DH and I got married in September. My length this morning was an inch or two past my bra strap, if that makes sense.

I pretty much sat down and said "Help, my hair is a flat, straight curtain. Do something. Anything. Just leave it long enough that I can put it in a ponytail for the gym."

Sarah, being fabulous, said that the length was great, she loved me as a blonde, and that I needed more layers and some low lights.

I LOVE what she did with my hair.

I lost a couple inches (but it's still very long), all the dead ends are gone, and we did a combo of high and lowlights. Now this is the fabulous part. She did the entire underside in dark blonde red. It's called Nutmeg and it gives so much depth. Add in the choppy heavy bangs and I feel fantabulous.

DH loves it. He said I have really cool hair. Coming from him, that means so much.

This is also really interesting - turns out I have curly hair. The conversation as my hair was being combed out after all the color:

Sarah: "So did you flat iron your hair this morning?"
Elliott: "No, I just blew it dry."
Sarah: "Uh, ok. Cause you have a ton of curl back here."
Elliott: "I do?"
Sarah: "Yeah. Yeeeeaaah."

So she showed me how to scrunch and get my hair all beachy curly. Sweet! I will never go back to blow drying again!

Thanks! I have to say, I feel so (dare I say it) cool and cute. It's definitely a more "hip" cut than I'm used to but my hubby keeps staring at me with googly love eyes. I guess that means he likes it. *grin*
