Wedding Wear

Finding things to wear to weddings is really difficult for me. When else do you have to worry about being modest (ceremony) and then totally fun and cute (reception). Of particular pain are morning/afternoon ceremonies followed by receptions after six. Ok, having just gotten married myself (more on that later), I get that some brides are constrained by what time they may have their church. HOWEVER, these brides don't want an afternoon tea or early evening. Oh no, they want the big all night shin-dig. Sweet jesus, ladies. Talk about a difficult wardrobe decision! I particularly hate throwing on a cardigan or grabbing one of the 8 billion cashmere shawls in my closet. Of the 8 billion shawls approximately 7,999,999,999 were bought for weddings.

Anywho, I found this dress at Banana and snapped it up for $40. $40! It's very cute, colorful, and keeps the bubbies covered and in check. (While possible to wear the ever popular strapless dress, I require *major* supportive garments in the bust area. They make me look great but who wants to have trouble breathing all night? I'll take a dress with sleeves and an obscenely beautiful bra any day over that torture.)

I am an avowed BR/Gap shopper. However, the last couple of years have seen my lovelies go from classic to trendy pieces of ****, with a remarkable lack of taste. Imagine my surprise when I walked in last week and saw these. Oh the navy! Oh the orange! If hubby and I weren't on a spending freeze (due to our single income at the mo'), they would have DEFINITELY come home with me.



I love bangles and cuffs. Hubby bought me one for Christmas that I wear alll the time. White looks clean and light for the Summer.


Patent leather is always fun; it reminds me of my school shoes when I was little. I wish I could get these in navy too!

I loooove this color. I'm not normally drawn to knit dresses because I need a defined waist (thanks Trinny and Suzanna!). However, this dress is a really thick knit and gives me enough structure that it looks uber-cute. Pop the collar and you're good to go. Oh, oh, and the pockets are darling.


Yes please! I'd love this with my cute white summer pants and any of my 8000 pairs of grey/stone/slate khakis.


I own way too many cardigan sweater jackets but one can never really have that many, no? The covered buttons are adorable. (And it's about $100 less than one I saw at J.Crew.)

Hi! I'm Elliott, a preppy, polo enthusiast, with a need to share all of the gorgeous things I find on the web. (Yes, I spend entirely too much time on the web. My hubby once exclaimed "No one looks at shoes more than you! during a tiff.) I currently live in my hometown of Washington, DC but the hubby and I are moving to San Diego, CA in two months. Yes friends, I will tell you all the excrutiating details of our attempt to find a place to live, find hubby a job (he gave up his so I could pursue mine on the left coast), and (hopefully!) adopt two bulldogs named Winston and Heston. I once worked with a guy who would call me "Elliott" because I had the same haircut and demeanor as the so-named blonde, ditzy doctor on Scrubs. So there you go. :)
